Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to Undergo Repairs: FG Announces Two-Month Partial Closure

The Federal Government has announced a two-month partial closure of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for urgent repairs on the Kara Bridge, Magboro Bridge, and Arepo-Punch Bridge. The repairs, aimed at fixing expansion joints, will be carried out in phases to minimize disruptions

According to Ogun State Federal Controller of Works, Michael Komolafe, the repairs are necessary due to damages caused by overloading of vehicles. He emphasized the need for weigh bridges to prevent future damage, saying, "We are blaming overloading of vehicles for the damages on the road, and we are canvassing construction of weigh bridges so the road won't be destroyed on time"

The contractor, CBC Construction Company, plans to complete half of each expansion joint within a week and install safety measures, including barriers, traffic signs, and warning lights, to ease traffic and protect workers. The repairs are expected to improve traffic management on the expressway [3].

The Federal Government apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates motorists' patience and cooperation.
