OGUN STATE TRANSFERS TASUED TO FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IN HISTORIC MOVE*
The Ogun State Government has officially handed over the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) to the Federal Government, marking a significant milestone in the institution's 21-year history.
The handover was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Governor Dapo Abiodun and the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sai’d Ahmed, during the university's 17th convocation ceremony.
The transfer aims to promote national equity and balance the geographical spread of federal universities, while honoring the legacies of education pioneers Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Dr. Tai Solarin. TASUED has been renamed Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, reflecting its new status as a federal institution.
The university has maintained 100% accreditation for its academic programs and has produced 4,785 graduates, including 40 First Class graduates. Gbolahan Edward Awofala, a 19-year-old Computer Science graduate, emerged as the overall best student with a CGPA of 4.92, receiving ₦2 million from the Ogun State Government and ₦1.5 million from the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
