Ogun State Government Denies Suspension of Ijebu Traditional Chiefs
The Ogun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, along with the Ijebu Ode Local Government, has debunked a false report circulating on social media claiming the suspension of three prominent Ijebu traditional chiefs: Chief Abimbola Okenla, Chief Tunde Odulaja, and Chief Lekan Oshifeso.
In a joint statement, the authorities described the report as "false and misleading," stating that no suspension has been effected or approved by any recognized traditional institution or the Ogun State Government.
The report is attributed to "mischief makers" seeking to cause confusion within Ijebu land.
The statement emphasized that chieftaincy matters follow established laws, customs, and due process, and none have been initiated against the named chiefs.
The public is urged to disregard the report and rely on official government channels for accurate information.
Signed,
Hon. Dare Alebiosu
Chairman, Ijebu Ode Local Government
Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat
Hon. Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs
Ogun State Government
