Ijebu Ode Local Government Council Chairman Appeals for Peaceful Resolution in Awujale Selection *
The Chairman of Ijebu Ode Local Government Council, Hon. Dare Alebiosu, has appealed for calm and peaceful resolution in the ongoing selection process for the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
The appeal comes as members of the Fusengbuwa ruling house protested alleged plans to impose a candidate on them.
Hon. Alebiosu urged all stakeholders to respect the traditional selection process and allow the kingmakers and the Ifa oracle to choose the next Awujale without interference. He emphasized that the process should be transparent, fair, and in accordance with Ijebu traditions.
The Awujale stool became vacant in July 2025 following the death of Oba Sikiru Adetona, who reigned for 65 years. The Fusengbuwa ruling house is next in line to fill the vacant stool, and the selection process is ongoing.
Hon. Alebiosu assured the people of Ijebu Ode that the Local Government Council is committed to supporting a peaceful and credible selection process.
He appealed to all parties to exercise patience and restraint, and to work together towards a consensus candidate
