*ADVOCATING FOR OUR CHILDREN'S FUTURE* - Omo+Iwa
Today and always, I join a host of other parents, philanthropists, and leaders to celebrate and acknowledge the importance of our children as regards the future of our society, to support their rights while also promoting their well-being and advocating for positive changes.
*"Every child is a different kind of flower, and together they make this world a beautiful garden"*.
It is a day to celebrate the young generation, raise awareness about issues affecting children, recognise their rights to health and protection, and prevent them from being disenfranchised.
I am particularly concerned about the under-16 policy of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), which appears to be of disadvantage to our younger students based on their age. While I appreciate JAMB's recent release of results for underage candidates, I urge the board to reconsider and remove the clause that impacts their admission into various universities.
Investing in our children’s future is a responsibility we cannot take lightly. Throughout my journey, I have celebrated children on numerous occasions, hosted events in their honour, and supported their education and well-being. Recently, I took the initiative to build a block of classrooms across three local governments to enhance educational opportunities for our youth.
It is my sincere hope that Nigeria and the world at large will continue to enact policies that nurture our children and prepare them for the future they aspire to achieve. Together, we can create an environment that allows them to thrive.
Happy Children's Day!
