The Nigeria Police Force has deployed an additional Commissioner of Police to Osun State to oversee security arrangements for the forthcoming governorship election.
The appointment is part of efforts to strengthen security, ensure a peaceful electoral process, and maintain law and order before, during, and after the polls.
According to the statement, the newly deployed CP will work closely with the Osun State Police Command and other security agencies to coordinate election security operations across the 30 Local Government Areas of the state.
The Police High Command charged the officer with the responsibility of providing adequate protection for voters, electoral officials, materials, and critical infrastructure throughout the election period.
Security agencies have assured residents that the deployment is aimed at deterring violence, thuggery, and any form of electoral malpractice. Citizens are also urged to come out and vote peacefully and report any suspicious activity to the nearest security formation.
The Osun governorship election is expected to draw significant attention, and the additional deployment signals the commitment of security agencies to deliver a credible and violence-free process.
