OGUN POLICE RECORD MAJOR WINS: 7 KIDNAP VICTIMS RESCUED, 3 SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS NEUTRALISED, 38 ARRESTED IN STATEWIDE CRACKDOWN

The *Ogun State Police Command*, under the leadership of *CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR*, has recorded significant breakthroughs in its fight against crime following a series of intelligence-led operations across the state.

In a statement, the Command confirmed the *rescue of 7 kidnapped victims*, the *neutralisation of 3 suspected kidnappers*, and the *arrest of 38 suspects* for various offences. The operations also led to the recovery of *2 firearms, 75 rounds of live ammunition, vehicles, motorcycles and other exhibits*.

*1. 7 KIDNAP VICTIMS RESCUED, 3 SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS NEUTRALISED*  

The Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, in collaboration with the *DSS, Nigerian Army and other security agencies*, achieved a major breakthrough.  

The victims were abducted on *29th July, 2026* along Paraga Street, Ipara. Acting swiftly, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched coordinated operations supported by intelligence gathering and surveillance.

On *3rd August, 2026*, following a request by *Governor Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun, CON* to the *IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM*, a Police helicopter was deployed from the Police Air Wing to support ground operations.  

The combined effort led to the successful rescue of all 7 victims. One victim with a gunshot injury was treated at the Police Hospital.

Rather than relent, operatives intensified the manhunt. At about *0200hrs on 6th August, 2026*, they stormed a suspected hideout along the Sagamu-Abeokuta Expressway. A gun battle ensued, resulting in the *neutralisation of 3 suspected kidnappers* while others escaped with injuries.  

*Recovered:* 1 AK-47 rifle, 1 empty magazine, 4 mobile phones, and ₦2.3 million in cash. The bodies of the neutralised suspects have been deposited at the State Hospital Morgue, Ijaiye, Abeokuta for autopsy. The hunt for fleeing members continues.

*2. OTHER MAJOR ARRESTS AND RECOVERIES*

- *Armed Robbery - Itele Division*: On 3rd August, Babatunde Olasunkanmi was arrested for attempting to rob a motorcyclist at gunpoint. A locally made double-barrel pistol, charms, a Tecno phone and ATM card were recovered. The accomplice is still at large.

  

- *Ponzi/Visa Scam - Atan-Ota Division*: On 4th August, *23 foreign nationals* were arrested in Onipanu-Ota over an alleged Ponzi scheme and visa fraud. *21 have been handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service*, while 2 remain in Police custody for prosecution.

- *Fake Clergyman/Fraud - Obantoko Division*: On 3rd August, Kehinde Makinde a.k.a “Pastor Kenny” was arrested in Ibadan. He allegedly defrauded 18 fellowship members of ₦2.5 million under the guise of a government-sponsored pilgrimage to Jerusalem.

- *Firearms Recovery - Sakura Division*: On 5th August, operatives recovered *1 English Submachine Gun and 75 rounds of live ammunition* hidden in a damaged wardrobe.

- *Cultism - Idi Oke Division*: On 3rd August, *12 suspected cultists* were arrested at Harodous Hotel, Igbesa. Recovered were charms, battle axes, knives, 8 motorcycles, 1 Lexus and 1 Toyota Camry.

- *Vehicle/Tricycle Theft - Owode-Egba Division*: A stolen white Toyota Hilux and a commercial tricycle were recovered, and one suspect, Samuel Adetunji, was arrested.

- *Sagamu Division*: An abandoned red Bajaj motorcycle was recovered at Kara, Sabo Sagamu.

*CP COMMENDS GOVERNOR AND SECURITY AGENCIES*

CP Ojajuni commended *Governor Dapo Abiodun* for his prompt intervention in securing aerial support, and praised the *DSS, Nigerian Army and other agencies* for their collaboration. He also lauded the professionalism of officers involved.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to *proactive, intelligence-led policing* and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
