CP OJAJUNI PLEDGES FULL POLICE BACKING AS NAFDAC CRACKS DOWN ON SACHET ALCOHOL AND FAKE PRODUCTS IN OGUN

The *Ogun State Police Command* has reaffirmed its commitment to support *NAFDAC’s enforcement operations* aimed at safeguarding public health and ridding the state of unapproved and harmful products.

The Commissioner of Police, *CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR*, gave the assurance on Thursday when he hosted the *State Coordinator of NAFDAC Ogun Office 1, Mr. Akinwale Fagoroye*, and his delegation at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

The meeting was to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and outline the security support required for NAFDAC’s statewide enforcement drive.

*NAFDAC INTENSIFIES CRACKDOWN ON SMALL-PACK ALCOHOL*

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Fagoroye disclosed that NAFDAC’s enforcement exercise, which began in Abeokuta, is now being extended to other parts of Ogun State. 

He said the operation will continue until there is *full compliance* and all *alcoholic drinks packaged in sachets and PET bottles below 200ml (20cl)* are completely removed from circulation.

According to him, the directive is part of NAFDAC’s mandate to *protect public health* and reduce the harmful effects of cheap, easily accessible alcohol, especially among children and youths.

> _“We urge manufacturers, importers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers and consumers to comply with the directive and cooperate with NAFDAC officials during enforcement,”_ he stated.

NAFDAC teams are currently conducting checks at *markets, motor parks, bars, warehouses, factories, and retail outlets*. The Agency is also empowered to act against *fake, unregistered, substandard, adulterated, expired or wrongly labelled products*, as well as facilities operating without approval.

Beyond alcohol, NAFDAC’s mandate covers *drugs, food, packaged water, medical devices, cosmetics, and chemicals* — all aimed at protecting public health and safety.

In his response, *CP Ojajuni* commended NAFDAC for its proactive steps and assured the delegation of the Police Command’s *full cooperation and security cover* during lawful operations.

The CP also revealed that the Police are actively enforcing the *Liquor Act* and other laws regulating the sale and distribution of alcohol in the state.

> _“This enforcement is aimed at preventing unlawful sale and distribution of alcoholic drinks and curbing activities that endanger public safety, particularly those that expose young people to harmful practices,”_ he said.

CP Ojajuni stressed that both agencies will continue to work within their mandates to ensure compliance and protect residents from products and activities that pose health and security risks.

He urged *manufacturers, distributors, sellers, and consumers* across Ogun State to obey all relevant regulations. He also called on members of the public to *report suspected fake, unsafe, or unapproved products* and illegal alcohol-related activities to the appropriate authorities.

The Ogun State Police Command reiterated that it remains committed to supporting all lawful regulatory efforts geared toward *protecting lives, promoting public safety, and safeguarding the well-being of residents.*
