AIG ZONE 2 HOSTS IHS DELEGATION, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO STRONGER SECURITY COLLABORATION
The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has received a delegation from HIS Nigeria on a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening security collaboration and further deepening the long standing relationship between the Nigeria Police force and the telecommunication infrastructure company.
The visit was particularly significant as it was a homecoming for the head of the delegation, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu, psc(+), (Rtd), who served as the 26th Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters from 2019 to 2021.
Speaking during the visit, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu, psc(+), (Rtd), expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and members of the delegation. He described IHS as a corporate organization that deals with telecommunication infrastructure globally with more than 16,000 towers across Nigeria. He explained that the organization places considerable emphasis on safety, security and protection of the wider community as well as its personnel and infrastructure. He therefore called for a continued strengthening of the long standing partnership between Nigeria Police Force and IHS, particularly in the areas of security and information sharing.
Responding, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh thanked the delegation for the visit and acknowledged the importance of sustained engagements between the Police and key cooperate stakeholders. The AIG assured IHS Nigeria of the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to providing a safe and secure environment in which legitimate businesses and investments can thrive.
AIG Moshood Jimoh also encouraged the organization to maintain close communication with the police and promptly report suspicious activities, threats to its infrastructure and other security concerns, requiring police intervention. He noted that timely reporting and effective information sharing are essential to preventing crime, protecting critical assets and responding appropriately to emerging security threats.
The visit also provided an opportunity for members of the Zone 2 Headquarters’ management team to engage with the IHS delegation on areas of mutual concern. Discussions focused, among other things, on crime prevention, information sharing, rapid response to security threats and measures to further improve the safety of residents and critical infrastructure across Lagos and Ogun States.
Zone 2 Headquarters remains committed to building purposeful partnerships with stakeholders and leveraging such collaborations to strengthen security, public safety and confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
