TAXIS ARE COMING BACK: IJEBUI-ODE’S ROADS ARE READY FOR A TRANSPORT REBOOT* _Oracle of Peace 🕊️²⁶ | Infrastructure & Mobility_
*IJEBU-ODE, OGUN STATE – JUNE 2026*
After years of silence on Ijebu-Ode’s streets, yellow taxis are set to return. Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has confirmed that modern taxi services will resume in the town within the next six months.
The announcement came Friday during the commissioning of the newly rebuilt Tam Balogun Road, Stadium Road, and Luba Road — a 6km stretch that signals a new chapter for Ijebu-Ode’s mobility.
Gov. Abiodun said taxi operators abandoned Ijebu-Ode because the road network collapsed over time. “When I assumed office in 2019, we declared a state of emergency on Ijebu-Ode roads. Today, that decision is paying off,” he stated.
His administration has completed 26 road projects in Ijebu-Ode LGA, with 12 more currently under construction. The governor noted his own drive from Abeokuta to Ijebu-Ode was smooth — proof, he said, that the infrastructure overhaul is working
With the roads now motorable, the state government will partner with private investors to reintroduce organized, modern taxi services. The goal: safe, comfortable, and reliable transport that matches Ijebu-Ode’s status as the capital of Ijebuland.
It’s more than convenience. Reliable taxis mean easier movement for traders, students, patients, and workers. It also creates jobs for drivers and boosts local commerce.
The governor urged residents to safeguard the new roads. “These projects were funded with taxpayers’ money. Do not dump refuse in drainage channels. A clean drain means a road that lasts,” Abiodun warned.
*Oracle of Peace notes:* Roads don’t just carry cars — they carry opportunity. When taxis return, so does access to jobs, markets, and healthcare. Fix the road, and the town comes alive.
