HEADLINE: IDC MOBILIZES ILESE FOR DEMOCRACY: “REGISTER TODAY, DECIDE TOMORROW” SUMMIT DRIVES VOTER AWARENESS* Oracle of Peace Ilese, Ogun State | Saturday

The Ilese Development Council (IDC) has taken a bold step to deepen grassroots democracy with a well-attended Voters’ Education Summit* in Ilese and its environs.

Theme: "Register Today: Decide Tomorrow – Empowering Ilese and Her Environs Towards Political Participation"

The gathering brought together community leaders, INEC officials, security agencies, youth groups, women, and other stakeholders under one roof — all focused on one goal: getting more residents registered, informed, and ready to vote.

1. Your PVC Is Your Power – INEC

Representing the Ogun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mrs. Feyijimi Saseyi Ibiyemi, *Mr. Joseph Omotiloye, INEC HOD Operations*, said voter registration remains the foundation of credible governance.

He urged every eligible Nigerian to *register, collect their PVCs, and show up on election day

2. Do Not Sell Your Future – IDC Chairman

*Asiwaju Kunle Kalejaye, IDC Chairman*, told residents that the ballot is one of the strongest tools citizens have to shape their communities.

He condemned *vote buying* in strong terms:

> _“The vote is your power to enforce and demand good governance. Do not mortgage your future by selling your vote. Choose leaders based on competence, integrity, and their commitment to serving the people.”_

3. Security Will Be Guaranteed – Police

Represented by *ACP Yusuf A. Wasiu, Area Commander, Ijebu Area Command*, *CP Bode Ojajuni, Ogun CP*, assured residents of full police presence *before, during, and after elections*.

He urged citizens not to be intimidated, stressing that the Police will remain *professional, impartial, and committed* to protecting voters, officials, and election materials.

Participants received practical guidance on:

- Voter registration procedures

- How to safeguard their PVCs

- Rejecting electoral violence and all forms of malpractice

The summit ended with a collective pledge: IDC leaders and community members will now mobilize door-to-door across Ilese and neighboring towns to ensure eligible voters *register, collect their PVCs, reject vote buying, and participate responsibly*.

In one line  Ilese is not waiting for democracy to happen — it is organizing to make it happen.
