ZONE 2 POLICE CRUSH CRIMINAL SYNDICATE, RECOVERS FIVE (5) STOLEN MOTORCYCLES, ARRESTS SUSPECT AND RECEIVERS, LAUNCH MANHUNT FOR OTHER FLEEING SUSPECTS
The Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 headquarters Onikan, Lagos headed by AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has recorded another major breakthrough in its relentless crackdown on criminal syndicates involved in stealing and other criminal activities within Lagos and Ogun States. This thorough investigation led to the arrest of three (3) suspects for stealing and receiving stolen properties, and the recovery of five (5) stolen motorcycles.
The operation followed a formal petition dated 12th April, 2026, addressed to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2 Headquarters, Lagos concerning the activities of a notorious syndicate who specialized in stealing motorcycles within Sagamu and Ijebu Ode area of Ogun State. Intelligence further revealed that the criminal syndicate sells off the stolen motorcycles to their buyers in Ogere, Ojodu Berger, Mushin and other parts of the country.
On the strength of this petition, operatives from the Zone 2 Headquarters Dragon team launched an intensive surveillance and intelligence gathering operation to track and uncover the syndicate operational network. On 19th May, 2026, the operatives strategically laid an ambush at the syndicate’s meeting point around Sagamu Interchange area leading to the successful arrest of three suspects identified as Ibrahim Saliu (male, 26yrs old), Abdullahi Usman (male, 48 years old) and Sulaimon Mohammed (male, 29 years old).
Preliminary investigations revealed that Ibrahim Saliu and two others at large specialize in stealing motorcycles during late night hours, usually between 1:00am and 4:00am. The gang reportedly towed motorcycles from where they were parked before forcefully unlocking the handlebars/steering system and manipulating the electrical wires to ignite the engines. Findings also disclosed that the stolen motorcycles were subsequently handed over to Abdullahi Usman, Sulaimon Mohammed and others on the run, at Sagamu/Interchange area, their meeting point for onward disposal.
The successful operation led to the recovery of three (3) unregistered Bajaj Boxer Motorcycles, One (1) unregistered Daylong Motorcycle and One (1) unregistered Lifan Motorcycle.
Further investigation has revealed that the syndicate and its accomplices have stolen and sold about fifty (50) motorcycles across Sagamu and Ijebu Ode axis. Investigators are currently trailing other fleeing members of the criminal network based on useful information given by the arrested suspects.
AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh has directed operatives to intensify efforts towards the immediate arrest of other fleeing suspects and ensure diligent prosecution of the suspects upon conclusion of investigation.
The Zone 2 Headquarters remains committed to the protection of lives and properties while sustaining its fight against stealing and other related offences within Lagos and Ogun states.
