…Calls for Effective Grassroots Governance as Foundation for Democratic Dividends
IJEBU-ODE – April 8, 2026 – Hon. (Barr.) Olufemi Adeleke Ogunbanwo (Omo-Iwa) today participated in the National Councillors Forum, Ogun East Senatorial District 2-Day Capacity Building Workshop on By-Law Drafting and the Budgeting Process for Local Government.
The workshop, which commenced today, April 8, 2026, is holding at the Centenary Hall, Itoro, Ijebu-Ode, within the premises of the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat.
The capacity-building workshop is designed to educate and strengthen grassroots lawmakers in the critical areas of by-law drafting—which establishes clear rules for community governance, ensuring order and compliance—and the budgeting process, aimed at effective resource allocation, driving development, and meeting community needs.
Hon. Ogunbanwo was conspicuously present in all sessions and reassured grassroots parliamentarians of his unwavering commitment to responsive lawmaking, people-oriented legislation, and sound fiscal appropriation at the local government level.
The forum also witnessed a strong declaration of a vote of confidence and unwavering support for His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, Governor of Ogun State, recognizing his remarkable leadership and the unprecedented developmental strides being witnessed across Ogun East Senatorial District. The forum expressed confidence that such wealth of experience will yield even more positive results for the District at the next level of representation.
In his remarks, Omo-Iwa emphasized the need to get governance right at the grassroots level as the foundation for delivering more prosperous dividends of democracy.
