The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 45-year-old Adeoye Taiwo for allegedly pouring boiling water on her 13-year-old niece, Adeoye Modinat, in the Odomogun area of Ijebu Imusin, leaving the minor with severe burns.

The attack occurred on April 13, 2026, at about 3:30 PM. According to police sources, the suspect accused the teenager of “following men” and reportedly instructed her own daughter to boil the water used in the assault. The victim, Modinat, is the daughter of Taiwo’s twin sister and had been living under her care.

Confirming the incident on Sunday, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the case was reported to the Ijebu Mushin Division, prompting an immediate response. “Upon receipt of the report, detectives swiftly visited the scene, rescued the victim, and ensured her immediate transfer to a medical facility where she is currently receiving treatment,” Babaseyi stated.

The suspect was arrested, detained, and arraigned before the Ijebu Mushin Magistrate Court. The court granted her bail in the sum of N3 million with sureties. However, Taiwo failed to meet the bail conditions and was subsequently remanded at the Igbeba Correctional Centre pending further hearing.
