Nigeria Police Force Shakes Up Leadership: Hundeyin Replaced as Spokesperson*
The Nigeria Police Force has announced a significant leadership change, replacing Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Benjamin Hundeyin with Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Okon Placid as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO). This move comes as part of a broader restructuring effort led by the new Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu. ¹ ² ³
Hundeyin, who had been serving as the FPRO since September 2025, was previously the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command. The police authority has also created a new department, the New Media Office, which will be headed by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Ali Giwa. This new unit is expected to focus on digital communication and online engagement for the police force.
The changes are seen as part of efforts to strengthen the police force's communication strategy and improve public engagement. While official announcements are still pending, sources confirm that the changes have already taken effect internally.
