On Thursday, 26 February 2026, the Ijebu‑Igbo Area Command was officially commissioned in a ceremony that attracted top government officials, traditional rulers, and security stakeholders. The event was graced by the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, *Engr. (Mrs.) Noimot Salako‑Oyedele*, the Secretary to the State Government, *Mr. Tokunbo Talabi*, and the State Commissioner of Police, *CP Lanre Ogunlowo*. Also in attendance were Senator *Lekan Mustapha*, the Orimolusi of Ijebu‑Igbo, *Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo*, and other royal majesties and dignitaries.

During the commissioning, a brand‑new patrol vehicle was handed over to CP Lanre Ogunlowo, symbolising the state’s commitment to enhancing operational capacity for the police. In his response, CP Ogunlowo expressed gratitude to Kabiyesi, the Secretary to the State Government, and all contributors, pledging that the command will discharge its duties “diligently without any flaws.” He emphasised that the new infrastructure and resources will strengthen crime prevention, rapid response, and community policing in Ijebu‑Igbo and surrounding areas.

Following the main ceremony, the delegation proceeded to *Japara Police Post* for its official commissioning, further extending security coverage within the area command.

The twin commissioning underscores Ogun State’s strategy to decentralise policing, improve logistics, and foster closer collaboration between security agencies and traditional institutions.
