PUBLIC STATEMENT ON THE LIFTING OF SUSPENSION AND REGULATION OF TRICYCLE (Maruwa) OPERATIONS IN IJEBU ODE LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Following the temporary suspension of tricycle (Maruwa) operations earlier announced and after extensive consultation with the Ogun State Ministry of Transportation and other relevant transport stakeholders, the Ijebu Ode Local Government has approved the lifting of the suspension on Maruwa operations with immediate effect today, 30th December 2025.

The decision follows deliberate engagements aimed at restoring peace, strengthening regulations and ensuring orderliness within tricycle parks and garages across the Local Government Area.

Accordingly,  only the following duly recognized tricycle associations are authorized to operate within all approved parks and garages in Ijebu Ode Local Government. 

1. Tricycle Owners And Riders Association Of Nigeria (TORAN)

2. Three Wheeler Owners And Riders Association (TWORA)

3. Riders And Owners Of Tricycle Organization (ROTO)

The Local Government further informs all stakeholders that the identification and registration process for tricycle (Maruwa) operators will commence  immediately.  The Office of the Secretary to the Local Government will formally announce the commencement, modalities, timelines and requirements for the identification exercise in due course. 

All tricycle operators are hereby advised to conduct their activities responsibly and in strict compliance with approved routes, park regulations and traffic laws.  Operations by unrecognized associations or actions capable or disrupting public peace and order will attract appropriate sanction in line with existing laws and regulations. 

The Ijebu Ode Local Government remains firmly committed to the maintenance of peace, public safety and a properly regulated transport system in the collective interest of all residents.
