*ONE YEAR OF STELLAR GOVERNANCE: HON. (DR.) BABATUNDE OYETOLA DIYA BEGINS COMMISSIONING OF IMPACTFUL PROJECTS*

It was indeed a day of joy, pride, and fulfillment on Thursday, 6th November 2025, as Odogbolu Local Government, under the dynamic leadership of Hon. (Dr.) Babatunde Oyetola Diya, the Executive Chairman, officially commissioned a series of laudable and people-oriented projects to mark one year of purposeful and impactful governance.

The event commenced with the warm reception of dignitaries from the State, led by the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, who represented the amiable and visionary Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON. He was accompanied by top officials and stakeholders across various ministries.

Unveiling of “IMOTOTO TUNDE” – Odogbolu’s Environmental/Public Health Initiative

The celebration began at the Local Government Secretariat with the official unveiling of the “IMOTOTO TUNDE” initiative — an Environmental and Public Health Protection Programme championed by the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Dr.) Diya, with 30 industrial-sized waste bins unveiled and donated to mark the one-year anniversary of his administration. The bins, which will be distributed across strategic locations within the Local Government, aim to promote hygiene, proper waste disposal, and sustainable cleanliness towards making Odogbolu the cleanest Local Government in Ogun State and indeed Nigeria, aligning with the administration’s commitment to environmental safety and public health protection.

Projects Commissioned at the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA)

The commissioning train then moved to the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Odogbolu, where a series of transformative infrastructural interventions were unveiled. These include:

Restoration of electricity after six years of blackout, through the purchase of cables, reinstallation, and complete re-electrification of the offices.

Procurement and installation of solar streetlight in the LGEA.

Installation of burglar proofs in all offices for enhanced security.

Painting of the entire LGEA complex, giving the offices a modern and refreshing look.

Drilling of a modern borehole to provide potable water for staff and visitors.

Installation of solar-powered electricity for uninterrupted power supply.

Construction of six modern toilet facilities to improve hygiene and workplace sanitation.

The administration’s commitment to education was also evident as the team proceeded to Christ African Primary School, Odogbolu — a block of 2 classrooms including the entire painting of the building.

Renovation of a block of 2 classrooms and painting at Imoru Community Primary School, Imoru.

A block of classrooms and offices at St. Matthew Anglican Primary School, Imodi, where comprehensive renovations and painting works were carried out to create conducive learning environments for pupils and teachers alike.

Other Landmark Achievements

Since assuming office barely a year ago, Hon. (Dr.) Diya’s administration has delivered numerous development projects across all 15 wards of Odogbolu Local Government, including:

Procurement and rehabilitation of the Chairman’s Office, Ante Room, and Conference Room.

Installation of solar-powered electricity across all offices within the Secretariat.

Procurement and installation of 437 solar streetlight panels and 429 solar pipes across the wards.

Signage and beautification.

Connection of two new electricity lines and procurement of three prepaid meters to enhance energy management.

Under the IMOLE DIYA initiative, the Chairman has further energized the Local Government Secretariat through the purchase, installation, and powering of new electrical cables, ensuring stable power supply across departments. He also facilitated the installation of solar streetlights in both the Local Government Secretariat and the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA).

Furthermore, solar streetlights were purchased and installed in all Primary Health Care Centres within Odogbolu Local Government, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Office, the Department of State Services (DSS) Office, and the Magistrate Court.

All 15 wards of the Local Government equally benefitted from this Light-Up Odogbolu Scheme, designed to illuminate communities, enhance night-time security, and promote economic and social activities after dusk.

Impactful People-Centered Initiatives

Hon. (Dr.) Diya reiterated his administration’s vision of a healthier, cleaner, and more prosperous Odogbolu through several life-changing programs, notably:

1. “IWOSAN TUNDE” Health Initiative

Under the IWOSAN TUNDE Initiative, hundreds of residents have benefitted from free medical screening and consultations across the Local Government. In addition, 500 beneficiaries have been successfully enlisted into the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme, ensuring sustainable access to quality healthcare.

To strengthen primary health care delivery, the administration has procured and distributed a wide range of modern hospital and laboratory equipment, including:

Ultrasound Machines. Patient Hospital Beds. Drip Stands.

Ward Screens. Sphygmomanometers. Stethoscopes.

Delivery Couches. Oxygen Concentrators. Patient Mattresses, and other critical laboratory apparatus.

These interventions have transformed healthcare facilities across Odogbolu, making medical care more accessible, efficient, and responsive to the needs of residents.

2. “IRANLOWO TUNDE” Cash Support Programme

The IRANLOWO TUNDE program continues to empower the less privileged, with over 150 beneficiaries receiving monthly financial support across the 15 wards of the Local Government.
