ODOGBOLU LOCAL GOVERNMENT CHAIRMAN LAYS FOUNDATION FOR NEW TRUCK STOP TO BOOST COMMERCE AND TRANSPORTATION



Yesterday Monday Nov 10 2025, the Executive Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. (Dr.) Babatunde Oyetola Diya, alongside distinguished guests and traditional leaders, laid the foundation stone for the Odogbolu Truckstop. The project, valued at *₦3.5 billion*, is a public‑private partnership with 1st Truckstop Limited and is expected to be completed within 24 months. Once operational, the truckstop will provide a modern logistics hub, create hundreds of jobs, and significantly increase internally generated revenue for the council Doc 3.


This milestone follows Dr. Diya’s ambitious agenda to transform Odogbolu into a model of economic growth and sustainable development. Since taking office, he has:


- *Generated innovative revenue streams* – launching a public‑private partnership office, a water‑bottling plant (“Omi Odogbolu”), and a waste‑to‑wealth recycling facility that targets *half a billion naira* in annual IGR Doc 1.

- *Expanded healthcare access* – initiating the “Iwosan Tunde” program that screened 5,000 residents for diabetes and hypertension and enrolled 2,000 citizens in the Ogun State Health Insurance Scheme Doc 2Doc 6.

- *Improved public infrastructure* – renovating the Odogbolu Central Mosque, commissioning a new borehole at Ikosa, and upgrading the Trailer Park with a relaxation hub and vigilante outpost to boost economic activity along the Sagamu‑Benin Expressway Doc 4Doc 5.

- *Strengthened security and community services* – establishing a Vigilant Group of Nigeria outpost at the revamped trailer park to ensure safety for travelers and local businesses Doc 5.


Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman Diya reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to attracting meaningful investments and creating an enabling environment for private‑sector growth. He thanked traditional leaders, the state government, and the private partners for their collaboration.


The truckstop project, situated near the busy Sagamu‑Benin Expressway, is poised to become a catalyst for trade, enhance logistics efficiency, and position Odogbolu as a key commercial hub in Ogun State.
