FLOOD ALERT:* *"FG WARNS 16 STATES of6 IMPENDING FIVE-DAYS FLOODING"*

 



The Federal Government has issued a safety alert, warning that 16 states in Nigeria are expected to experience flooding over the next five days, from October 4 to October 8, 2025. The affected states include:


- *Delta*

- *Yobe*

- *Sokoto*

- *Zamfara*

- *Katsina*

- *Oyo*

- *Kebbi*

- *Kano*

- *Niger*

- *Kwara*

- *Benue*

- *Borno*

- *Bayelsa*

- *Cross River*

- *Rivers*

- *Enugu*


- Residents in high-risk areas are advised to prepare for possible flash floods

- Early evacuation, clearing of drainages, and strict monitoring of waterways are recommended

- State governments and local authorities are urged to implement proactive safety measures


The National Flood Early Warning Centre (NFEWC) has identified 39 locations across the 16 states that are likely to be impacted by intense rainfall and overflowing water channels.


The Federal Ministry of Environment, in collaboration with NEMA and state emergency agencies, is working to ensure swift responses in the event of flooding.


Residents are advised to stay informed through official channels, avoid crossing flooded roads, and report early signs of water level rise to local emergency desks.
