*OGUN COURT BLOCKS GOVERNMENT'S DEMOLITION PLANS FOR GBENGA DANIEL'S PROPERTIES*
The High Court of Ogun State in Sagamu has granted an interim order restraining the Ogun State Government from demolishing or tampering with properties belonging to former Governor Gbenga Daniel. The court's decision came after Daniel and his wife, Olufunke, filed affidavits of urgency claiming their properties were at risk.
*Properties in Question:*
- *Asoludero Court*: Located on Block 1, Plots 7 & 8 of Block XXXVIII, Plot 1 & 12, within the amended part of the Government Reservation Area, Sagamu
- *Conference Hotel*: Situated in Sagamu, with a valid Certificate of Occupancy No. LUD3/LR2693, dated January 20, 2010
- *Blue Chapel Limited*: Also located in Sagamu, with shared claimants in one of the suits
*Background:*
The Ogun State Government had served a quit and demolition notice on Daniel's private residence and hotels in Sagamu, citing contravention of the Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law No. 61 of 2022. Daniel described the move as "political persecution," while Governor Dapo Abiodun maintained it was part of a statutory land audit.
*Court's Decision:*
Justice O.S. Oloyede granted the interim order, barring the defendants, their allies, and agents from:
- Carrying out any demolition
- Enforcing the quit notice issued on August 8, 2025
- Interfering with the claimants' possession of the properties
The case has been adjourned to August 19, 2025, for the hearing of the application for an interlocutory injunction.
